Amateurs: Fulfilled Utopia? (in Czech, or Slovak?-)
lecture by Palo Fabus
Utopia called for by artists and theoreticians since the beginning of 20th
century is a part of many phenomena related to new media. Freedom of
expression for everyone and liberation from the content dictated by media
magnats yet brings about new factors not forecasted - despite it's artists
who call for general sobering up.

Small Studies in Translations
networked performance
Michal Kindernay and Givan Bela explore their network audiovisual lab live
in 5 different locations. Techniques of micromontage, granularity,
trancoding, distributed networked processing and many others will be
tested in realtime. One day the real piece will emerge - or maybe not at
all if the idea of a real piece disappears by then. Is there a future for
art when old retards persist in asking useless questions like: "Ist die
Moderne unsere Antike?". Meantime, come and visit the labs at the
designated locations. Or connect to the websites. Beauty not included.

Web / Content / SK (in Slovak)
discussion
by Tomas Bella, Patrik Garaj, Jan Sifra, Tomas Ulej, Robo Zelnik
moderation: Michal Cudrnak, Dusan Barok
What phase is the Slovak internet in right now? Is it lagging behind the
more developed or is it rising, thanks to the suffix 2.0? It was not such
a long time ago that the Slovak Wikipedia could be browsed in an hour.
Today, with more than 60 000 articles, you would need several days.
Original content, in the form of video was not ever dreamed of. Tomorrow,
it might be offered by all the bigger portals. Despite a delay, this
medium is also becoming an integral part of the personal and of the public
in Slovakia. Enthusiasts scan books for free, comment on everyday life on
their blogs, and experiment with form and with collaborative approach.
Amateurs become professionals and users become curators of digital
content. We will let it reflect in a critical mirror and we will look into
the crystal ball - bring your questions.
