hi

i dont know if you're familiar with node.london (150 media art projects in
40 locations during 1 month of march 2006 with 70k gbp funding from
art's council england, http://www.nodel.org ),
however it's interesting how it is (not) progressing organisationally..

after first london's season of media art in march 2006, the working group
was formed to formulate grant application for another season (ie. components
to be funded and their weighting), but according to recent summary post on
nodel list they went "anxious elite" and despite defining itself as
"an organisation striving for openness and transparency" developed
"sense of hidden hierarchy" inside the group.

now, NL's project coordinator tim jones proposes few things that could
save the org or if not accepted, it will be left for others to take up.
proposals include creating new list only for "active" organisers
(now 90 subscribers); refreshing the org's signatories persons; and
delivering smaller, more modular funding application. in this application
he names several areas: subscriber meetings, "focus events" (two thematic
bigger events preceding the season), website/tools development, national/
international links (node.stockholm is being formed, possible cooperation
with multiplace is mentioned), managerial support/coordination (actually
he is founding a company that is proposed to maintain web and lists,
facilitate specific events, sell publications, and do financial management
for node.london).
