The mission of c2c is to animate and mediate to the public an interdisciplinary discussion in the domain of contemporary visual art and culture.

The impulse for establishing c2c was a general absence of an open platform for discussion about contemporary visual art and culture, especially about the issues of criticism and curatorship within the international context. The more diverse and innovative opinions arise, the better. We welcome curators, critics, and artists-curators who are interested in the contemporary forms of art production as well as the new trends in culture. Moreover, we are open to any individuals contributing to the activation of the critical reflection of contemporary art. We wish to focus on intersections of art and societal, economic, scientific, media, and technological contexts.

The Faculty of Fine Arts at present offers education in seven artistic disciplines: painting, sculpting, graphics graphic design, industrial design, conceptual tendences, VMP (video multimedia performance). Each of these disciplines has two ateliers in the school. The association of the Faculty of Fine Arts with technologically oriented faculties is a precedent in Czech republic and it had influenced the focus of certain disciplines towards creative linking of technology and art. The Faculty of Fine Arts is relatively small and the teaching is mainly individual; every student is being trained as an individual in a different way.

The Nitra Gallery in Nitra was founded in 1965. Since 1965 the gallery is based in the former zhupa house which is a cultural monument and is a part of the urban monument reserve. This baroque building was constructed in 1784 on earlier foundations and in 1874 rebuilt into neo-baroque style according to projects of the architect Dümmler. In 1905 – 1908 architect Czigler rebuilt the building into a four-winged palace in art nouveau style both in the interior and exterior. The zhupa house is a significant part of the relicts reservation and is located at the entrance to the Nitra Upper Town.

Our programs nowadays aim at developing the visual art history research and presenting a current Slovak visual art in three exposition rooms where each of them represents a particular thematic field.

We organize wide scope of cultural events and activities for public aimed at bringing contemporary arts closer to the people.
